a family affair

when you think you're doing something, but you're not

So i was home in chicago for my birthday this past weekend--yay God! Thanks for this new chance, again...

I was at the DMV with my mother and I was knitting, and a couple people asked me if I sold my items, to which I replied, yes, and gave them each business cards. To one of them I had to say, I don't have a website but you can email me and I'll send you samples.
Then I remembered my blog, dear sweet blogspot that never kicks you off...and so just now I said to myself, self--get it together!

I have a couple new pics...take a gander and see what or if you like anything.
Yet another of my joys :)

Namik's Little Black Clutch

Another special order, and a joy to make. My friend Namik wanted a black clutch. She was the first to ask for one, and afterwards I took the idea and flew (or am flying) with it.
I'm in the process now of making many many clutches of many colors, but hers was the first and should be duly noted.
Hers has a nice wristlet to hold it when you're dancing REALLY hard at the parties.
I'll ask her to tell you what she likes and dislikes about it.
I think my favorite feature is the button. What's yours???

Eric Lee, Eric Lee, Eric Lee, Eric Lee!

singer, director and doctor extraordinaire, mr. eric lee is modeling the grey and black scarf that was made for sophia's beau
i'm not a huge grey girl, but i loved the way these two colors came together seamlessly (pun intended)
pretty much a sexy scarf for anybody who dons it
thank you eric lee :)

Orange you glad you know somebody who knits?

teeheehee

This was just an orange project I wanted to do just because. It made me happy...and I even think my roommate smiled a lot when she posed it for me. Simple rib knit--long and wrappable a few times to keep out the cold.

Sweet Mrs. Alli-Balogun's scarf

This took a long time! My co-worker requested a special order and I'm here to please. It's pretty wide and I did it with a ribbed effect.
She loves it and wears it every winter. Says it blocks wind like nothing else. It's also got a nice weight to it. And the color is pretty versatile.
Stay warm miss lady :)

Sophia's Scarf

Obviously it's still summertime, and scarves like this are a bit awkward, but like I said these are dated projects I worked on a while ago.
This one was fun. I didn't it for a friend of my old roomie's, Sophia.
She explicitly wanted green and orange (FAMU stand up!) so this is what I did. Seed Stitch on Lion Brand Wool.
Nice and soft and warm.

Back in Bizness

Well, it seems like it may have been a LONG time since I used this blog to say anything about anything, and that's sad because knitting and crocheting are pretty important in a life like mine. They both bring me some kind of joy and peace--and they get me closer to my job as creative assistant to god. I get paid DAILY for this. Pretty cool.
Anyway, one of the biggest faults with the earlier manifestation of this blog (formerly called Earthy Creations by arinmaya) and even with my other blog at noseandeyelashes.blogspot.com, was that neither of them told you anything about my creative spirit. And my creative spirit is driving my life and making me smile these days. When I ignore her (my creative spirit) she chides me. Things don't go right. Destiny is abandoned. And that ain't no good.
So I know and I crochet, and you see me smile and feel good about life.

What I will do differently this time around is keep you posted on my progress.
I think one of the biggest challenges for this will be taking pictures and posting them. But I will try my best.
I'll start with a few pictures of some OLD projects I've done for friends in the past. Colors make me happy. So I've started the page with a black background to suck you into the possibility of so many colors and then I'll surprise you with the choices me and my customers have made.
I will shortly have an etsy page that will feature finished projects and sellables. Feel free to comment on anything you like or would like to inquire about (e.g. materials, time taken for a project, dangling prepositions, grammatical errors, etc.)

Along with knitting and crocheting, you, my friends and family, bring me joy. So leave me love when and where you can. I'm looking forward to this ride.

Watch me as I create :)
